Hey, aren’t you a filmmaker? Why are you doing headshots?

Well, as a filmmaker, I see a lot of headshots. And more often than not, they’re quite unnatural-looking. They’re overexposed and overly lit and overly processed and quite simply don’t give me a good look at the actor or actress I’m considering for a role in a film of mine. When I encounter a headshot like this, I disregard it completely (so much for the sometimes thousands of dollars they spent on it) and simply Google the person to see if I can find more accurate and natural photos of them on the web. This method has saved me from overlooking actors and actresses that I wouldn’t have considered had their headshot been all I saw of them.

But it’s not an ideal method. I’ve always wished I could see the best of both worlds—the naturalism of how they look in real life, mixed with the romanticism of my own filmmaker’s eye. Which is why I got into doing headshots. And what you see in my portfolio represents what I wish I could see every time I open an email from an actor or actress or their agent.

Do you do headshots solely for actors and actresses?

Of course not! My clients range from professionals, to artists, to people who have never had a headshot before and don’t even ‘need’ one per se, but have simply always wanted that one great photo of themselves that they feel truly captures them.

If by chance this is your very first headshot, and you’re nervous at the thought of having one done, don’t worry. There’s no reason to be. It’s a very simple and smooth process, and doesn’t take very long at all. I’ve been told by clients who were absolutely petrified of getting their picture taken that I have an very calming presence. And if you hate flash bulbs, guess what? I hate them too, and I don’t use them. In fact, I don’t use any lights whatsoever. Just beautiful, naturally diffused sunlight.

What are your rates really?

As I say on the homepage, $250 a session (approx. 90 minutes) and that price includes touchups and color correction for the photos that you want. There are no hidden or additional fees whatsoever.

Within 24 hours after our session, you’ll be able to browse the straight-from-the-camera shots online. Take as long as you need to decide which shots are the ones you want. And then 72 hours after you let me know, you’ll have your finished, processed photos, at full quality.

What happens if I don’t like any of my photos?

This is a highly unlikely scenario. And by highly unlikely, I mean it’s never happened to me before. But of course, in the highly unlikely scenario that you don’t like any of your photos, I would issue a full refund. Honestly though, if you like any of the photos in my portfolio, you’ll like your photos, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Plus we’ll be discussing exactly what you want prior to the shoot anyway, and discussing it during the shoot as well.
