Shredder is a stark, minimalist 'teen movie' about falling in love with music. Discarding the typical trappings and settings of the genre, Cody Clarke points his fly-on-the-wall lens away from classrooms and gossipy halls, and instead on the formative alone-in-my-room time of adolescence—the brief respites where a budding mind and body is free from obligation and able to discover who and what it truly cares about. Travis, a high school senior, spends his spare moments fiddling around on guitar, writing silly songs to amuse girls. One night, he overhears a virtuoso, and is awakened to the instrument's full potential. A newfound passion for honing his skills takes hold—which causes unforeseen conflicts with his friends and more-than-friends. 80 minutes. Unrated. Contains adult language.
